Hello Yaqsan,

I'm not sure how to use the Ning yet.

Did this e-mail make it through to you?

If it did, what did you have in mind for the discussion about global warming?

It sounds interesting.

Thank you,

hi Dwayne
thank you for your replay

Well about the discussion, you can write anything about global warmming and how can we prevent it

Thank you,

I think Al Gore's documentar 'Inconvenient Truth' is such an eye opener. This is a serious issue and by 2015 there will be a lot of places which will drown because of the melt down of polar ice caps. Together we can stop this.

Thank u minhaaj for the words u wrote
True together if we all work as one we can stop this
Thank u again

i don't think it's true because diden't this happen once before in the past tempratures rose then they fell the earth will always find a way to fix what ever problem we cause

Hi thank you Pedro
if the earth can fix anything by itself people will not do anything to ake it better
thank anyway

well recent studies have shown that in the past tempratures rose then fell thats why the ice age ended and started also the carbon we put in the atmosphere doesen't cause any damage to our atmoshpere it just follows it. The sun is sometimes warmer in some spots and cooler in others that is why the idea of global warming comes from.

Good point, Pedro. For anyone who is interested in knowing the science (rather than the hype) behind what is occurring with the climate, read the book by Fred Singer, "Unstoppable Global Warming Every 1500 Years."

The author provides scientific studies from all over the globe that prove there is a global warming and cooling cycle that spans about 1500 years. The scientific data available is able to well document this to be true going back until the last ice age ended many thousands of years ago. There is less available data going back further in time, but it too points to the existence of this 1500 year cycle.

The last cooling period, known as the Little Ice Age, ended around 1850. Since then the global temperature has been gradually rising and will continue to rise for probably 200 more years before going back into another colder period. Historically, the warm periods have been best for Mankind, the colder periods harsher and harder to survive. There were no massive species die-offs during these warm periods. There is no reason to think that the current warming will be any different.

Also in the book is the science behind what causes this cycle. As Pedro correctly points out, the sun has cycles of greater and lesser activity, made obvious by sunspots. When the sun is more active, the world's temperature increases. But there is more to it than that. The book lays out the science that exactly explains the mechanism behind this--it is not simply that the sun is a bit warmer. The book also shows that the amount of Carbon Dioxide in the atmosphere is a result of the temperature and not the other way around. Most of the Carbon Dioxide in the world is dissolved in the ocean. As world's temperature rises, eventually the ocean's does too and releases more of its Carbon Dioxide into the atmosphere. As the world goes into a cooling phase, eventually the oceans cool as well and absorb more Carbon Dioxide back into it.

It's a fascinating book. The bottom line is that there is no reason to fear the climate change we are currently in. In a few hundred years, when we start heading back into a cold phase, Mankind will face some real challenges--how to feed a hungry planet with colder weather. In the meantime, we can look forward to conditions similar to those from the days of the Vikings, who had weather so good that for a a few hundred years they were able to sail across the northern part of the North Atlantic and colonize Iceland, Greenland and the northern coast of North America. Of course, the Little Ice Age period that followed put a stop to that. But now those favorable conditions are returning once again. There is every reason to predict that the current warming will be no different and usher in a continuing period of prosperity for Mankind.
