Abortion. Is it murder?

One topic that is prominant in my country today is that of abortion.

Should it be legal? Is it murder? Are we killing people?

Thanks Amy for posting this discussion. I do think it`s a crime. In my religion Islam, it`s considered as a murder. We don`t have the right to kill any innocent humanbeing that God has created.

I agree with you totally. I consider abortion murder, as a human is a human regardless of what form its in or how small it is. It is an amazing thing having the ability to have a child, people take this too lightly these days. Abortion is murder in my eyes, if we allowed the child to be born it would develop into a person just like you or me, it would have thoughts, feelings, wants and desires. We have no right to kill anyone.

Any more thoughts?

But what is being done in accordance to this matter? In my country (Australia) and in particular my state (Victoria) abortion is legal up to a number of weeks, I think its 24 weeks. There has been a lot of controversy upon this issue with numerous protests, ect. What are the laws regarding this issue in your countries?

You don't have to keep the baby, there's plenty of barren couples would love one. It was really horrible when the Victorian government bumped up the legal abortion weeks recently.

Permalink Reply by Samuel wilson mercer on October 22, 2009 at 4:11pm: I completely disagree with all of you. i will agree with you that abortion is murder, however the word murder has a negative connotation. yes you are ending a fetus's existence, However, by taking away the choice from a pregnant women of whether or not she wants to have a child or not is a little controlling. If a baby is born into a situation where her mother is living in a crack den for example, the baby will probably die anyways or be born with a disorder so why put the mother and child through unnecessary pain. Abortion should be the choice of the pregnant women and NOBODY else because that is who it will mostly effect.
