Hi Jenny, you will find meeting recordings linked form the Teacher page of the wiki.

Me again. Does anyone know where I would find the links to past meetings? I have my students on the wiki, but we are not sure what to be doing next. I'm sure this was all covered in detail, but I had to miss the last two meetings due to some technical issues.

Students should be getting on the wiki, looking at their team on the grid, friending their team members on the ning, researching their topic from the grid, entering their information on the wiki. Every time they make a change to the wiki they should enter a post on their sub-topic thread (one per sub-topic).   Remember their user names should be first name, last name, school.  This is all outlined in meeting 3 and 4.  If you haven't already listened to those that would be helpful.  Also, we have a document we can send you on getting on the wiki.  Amy sent it out a couple of weeks ago.  If you need us to send it to you please let us know.  Please let me know what you need and how I can be the most helpful.  As long as you feel lost - keep asking!  We'll help get you caught up.

Hi Guys -

We have had some connectivity issues with my school's filter (which are supposed to be fixed now) these last couple of weeks. My kids are all signed up and have extended their handshakes, but now that we're all able to get back on the ning, I feel totally lost. Can anyone point me in the right direction to hopefully catch up this week?

Just like to repeat there are two things that are really important:

  1. All students on the ning, wiki, or diigo must use the naming pattern.
  2. Teachers must approve their own students.

If you have questions, please contact your project managers. Thanks.

@Jenny - Lisa sent out an email with the link to the recording.  If you can't find it let me know.

I had to miss the second virtual meeting. How do I go about accessing the content?

@Margaret - Students can upload a picture if this is allowed by your school policy.  If your school policy does not allow pictures of students they can create an avatar and upload that instead of a picture.  They do not need to have both.

In our (Amy and Sheri) school district we have parents sign a permission slip allowing students to use the project tools, upload pictures of themselves, and participate in online meetings.

Students are accepted on the Ning, then they create their handshake.  I have students introduce themselves in a short paragraph using the blog post from their page.  I also have students create a short video introducing themselves and they post that on their page also.  These posts will then show up on the main Ning page.  These two pages are linked.

We will share examples of the video handshake during the meeting on Thursday.

In the directions "About the Mandatory Components", it says students are to create an avatar and a profile. Is the avatar part of the profile, or can students upload their own picture instead? I am not sure where the avatar comes in.

Also in this same section it says, "Students introduce themselves via a blog post that typically includes audio or video material (handshake)" Is this something that happens after they are accepted in the Ning and is it part of their personal page created in the Ning?

Although students should be submitting handshakes on the Ning, they should not be discussing what group they are in as the final team grids have not been finalized. We will discuss this in detail at the meeting on Thursday (2/16). Thank you for your comments.
