Connecting The World Online (CWW) Reflective Writing
In this Flat classroom project, we were divided up into groups with other schools from different countries. Each group had a different topic. My group’s topic was Connecting The World Online (CWW). Every member of my group set up an account on both the wiki and the Ning. The wiki provides us information and guidelines for example how we were going to do it and where we were going to put it. The Ning is a place where it allows us to edit our own page, some of these features includes adding music, photos, videos and comments.
I used the Ning for communication to send messages to my teammates. Communicating with team members was very necessary for this assignment. This is because we were able to communicate to our team members asking what we possibly need to do, fix, add and ect. The Ning provides a chat feature very similar to MSN messenger and I found this useful because I could chat to my team mates about our topic Connecting The World Online (CWW).
Receiving an email from the teacher was really good and necessary in this assignment, this is because we were able to know where we needed to edit, correct and what to improve on. By knowing this we were able to successfully create a great film for our outsource request and for our own movie achieving high and good marks hopefully. I also received reminders and new tasks from the teacher over email which gave me warnings.
What I would now do differently, since I understand the assignment better and now know what’s required, I would plan my ideas better, knowing how long each scene should go for and getting all my films done early so therefore I’m able to have much more time editing the film.
The discussion tab on Wiki helped us improve my assignment; this is because team members or other team members were able to post a note to people about there film, by doing this, it will allow the producer of that film know where or what they need to improve on, or if there is something they should maybe add. Also this will let the producer know if there are people who may enjoy there film, this is what makes the producer feel happy and confident about the work they’ve done and gives them a happier attitude and more positive outcome with new and better ideas.
The Wiki allowed us to see more things in a clearer way for example the team grid, we were able to see who is involved in the team, and see the topic and what is required to do. Also we were able to see information people had inserted in their background, current News, Areas of impact, Education, Governments, Politics, and Employment, Science, Environment, and Health. This is what I believe is another way to build people’s understanding to a stronger and higher new level. This is; I believe a much better way and easier way of understanding a specific topic that we were required to do.
During this project, lots of improvements were made; for example, once collecting all the films together, there was a lot of editing made. By doing this it made my film look more qualified and it was easier to get the message across.
I didn’t really look at the RSS feeds section because it wasn’t relevant to what I was doing, so I couldn’t really elaborate on this section of the reflection.
At last, in the Multi media artefact section, I used programs such as Adobe Premiere, Windows Movie Maker, and Adobe Video Encoder to successfully complete my film at last.
• I firstly used a video camera to record my video
• I then secondly, imported the video to the computer using a transferring wire which is connected to the camera.
• I then thirdly opened the video on adobe premiere and I recorded what I wanted
• I then fourthly imported the video to adobe video encoder which allows me to convert the format of the video to WMA.
• I then fifthly, once I converted it, imported it to the windows movie maker and start editing the film, some of these features included the heading, background music, credits and transition effects.
• Once I had completed all these five steps and finished editing the film, I saved it as WMA again and then uploaded it to my Ning and Wiki.
Overall this Flat class room assignment benefited me in a lot of ways. I learned a lot through out this assignment and I’m proud of the completed film and I’m proud to have participated in the Flat Classroom assignment.
