Building bridges for the future through collaborative projects

In this project, we are divided into groups with other schools. Each group have a different topic, my group is doing about the World Wide Web. We all set up an account on both the wiki and the Ning. The wiki provides us information and guidelines of how we are going to do it and where are we going to put it. The Ning is a place where it allows us to edit our own page, add videos, music, comments and photos.

For communication, I used the Ning to send messages to my teammates. On the Ning, there’s a place where you can have instant message chat, however there are problems because my teammates are from other schools which the time is different to us. Sometimes our teacher was not at school and so again we use the Ning to send messages to communicate.

Problems occurs during the project, each of us in my group have to choose a subtopic about the World Wide Web and I chose to do about art, entertainment and leisure .Most of them have no idea what to do or cannot be bothered to do the project and so I have to start everything first as an example for them and also explain to each of them what they have to do.

During the project, lots of improvements were made; Ken and Maheen Saad have been working so hard on the project. Maheen Saad was actually from another school, Ken is in my class. Although Ken has trouble in understanding, Ken was able to do a mind map on how the World Wide Web improves entertainment. Maheen start making a video on environment and I start making a video about art. However I and Maheen were upset that the other teammates were not communicating with us even when we ask them what they are doing at the moment.

For the RSS feeds and the discussion tab on wiki, I didn’t really look at those so there’s nothing I can really talk about.

Finally, about the Multi media artifact, I’ve used programs such as adobe premiere, windows movie maker, adobe video encoder. First I use a video camera to record my video then I import the video to the computer using a transferring wire. I open the video on adobe premiere and I record what I want, then I import the video to adobe video encoder which allows me to convert the format of the video to WMA. Once I converted it, I import it to the windows movie maker and start editing the heading, transition effects, background music and the credits. Once I’ve finish editing, I save it as WMA again and then I uploaded it to my Ning and my wiki.
