Hi, it is a small world. My Skype name is Greenisle13.

I am glad you mentioned that your kids are well traveled. I was going to mention that fact about mine but it can come across as arrogant if another class is not well traveled.

You are right about the time difference and hopefully we can come up with a solution but there are other ideas. Right now I am involved in a collaborative Voice Thread project/conversation with a school in Roanoke, Virginia and while it is not as immediate as a skype face to face video call it is providing information for both the classes.

Wales is a country I am dying to visit. My roots are English and Irish and I have visited there as well as Scotland but am still waiting to visit Northern Ireland and Wales. Maybe next summer as this one is pretty well taken up with working on my Masters through Walden University.

I will send the link to our Flickr page as soon as I have updated a few things.:)

Hi,

It would be terrific to be involved in a video skype conversation. My class has done a number of them and they are getting more confident each time they participate.

I just thought I would tell you a bit about our school and my class though so you can let me know further if my class is what you are looking for.

I teach at Yew Chung International School in Beijing

We do not teach local chinese students but children of parents who hold foreign passports (expats). We use the National Curriculum of Great Britain but are accredited world wide. My class consists of children from 8 different countries though most of them have at least one Asian parent. The students speak a total of 7 different languages. They study in English but also take Chinese (Manadrin) as a mandatory subject for one hour a day. My class studies Chinese at 6 different levels. I have 20 students with only 4 that have English as their first language, so we have our difficulties sometimes.

They are enjoying talking globally and sharing with other students and countries. Our biggest challenge will be a time situation as Beijing is 13 hours ahead of Chicago but we may be able to work something out.

Hope to hear from you.

Heather
